De “offshoring” a “friendshoring”: algunos antecedentes

"Los últimos años han transformado el campo de juego sobre el que se desarrollan las relaciones comerciales. Las empresas han tenido que comenzar a replantearse su estrategia de ubicación geográfica y considerar el peso de un factor que antes estaba relegado: las relaciones políticas y los valores compartidos entre las naciones. El entorno se ha transformado de uno que favorecía el “offshoring” a uno que prefiere el “nearshoring”, y ahora, el “ friendshoring”. Entre las razones principales se encuentran las fricciones comerciales entre las grandes potencias, las disrupciones ocasionadas por la pandemia, y la creciente complejidad y fragilidad de las cadenas globales de valor.
En el presente ensayo se pretende ahondar sobre cómo es que se ha dado esta transformación y cuáles son esas causas. Desde los inicios con el cambio en la retórica estadounidense con la administración Trump, hasta recientemente los proyectos de revitalización de la política industrial estadounidense. Se presenta al final reflexiones preliminares sobre cómo está el terreno de juego, cómo se ve hacia el futuro para América Latina y especialmente para Costa Rica."
