Telemedicina y el Internet de las Cosas Médicas (IoMT): Superación de los desafíos y visualización de las oportunidades para mejorar la calidad de vida y la accesibilidad en el sector salud

Resumen

Este estudio explora el impacto del Internet de las Cosas Médicas (IoMT) en la atención médica en Costa Rica, un país con un sistema de atención médica universal y una población en crecimiento. Se discuten los posibles beneficios del IoMT, como el acceso mejorado a la atención médica en áreas remotas, la gestión eficiente de recursos médicos, la prevención de enfermedades crónicas, el envejecimiento activo, la creación de empleo y el desarrollo económico. Se presentan ejemplos de iniciativas en América Latina, específicamente en Costa Rica, que incluyen proyectos gubernamentales y soluciones de telemedicina privada. Sin embargo, se destacan desafíos clave, como la interoperabilidad, la seguridad de los datos y la aceptación por parte de los usuarios. A pesar de estos desafíos, se espera que el IoMT transforme la atención médica costarricense, haciéndola más accesible y eficiente, y mejora la calidad de vida de sus ciudadanos.
